baby, it's cold outside!

The winter months are so unpredictable.  The morning of this maternity session we had decided to reschedule based on the cloudy weather. It was also cold....I mean 36 degrees cold!! But low and behold it started to clear up. Sarah and Greg, being some of the most laid back, easygoing people/parents ever, were game so we decided to go for it. They are in the process of building a house, and I thought it would be fun to head over to the site for their session. Their house also has a big open field next door which was perfect. Everyone looked great and Sarah was just glowing with her beautiful baby belly!  She also brought the cutest creme hat and teal scarf that looked so good with her red sweater.  By the time we were ready to start shooting, it had clouded up again and I started to question my decision to try to squeeze in the shoot. Luckily, the sun came out for just for a bit, and we took full advantage. As we were heading back to the house for just a few more shots of Sarah, it started to snow! The snow was just blowing in the window and it was this really magical moment that I'm so glad we captured.

This session embodies exactly where I was in my life last summer, and being able to capture the excitement of this time for this family was extra special to me. All the emotions were so fresh in my mind from the overall excitement to the physical difficulties of those last few months of pregnancy. Seeing big brother Everett be excited in his own way, but not quite sure what it all means quite yet really hit home with me because of how much my family has changed with the birth of my daughter and how much life will change for them as well once their little girl arrives. Sarah and Greg, I can't thank you enough for being willing to shoot on such a chilly day and I am just thrilled for your family and can't wait to meet your new baby girl in just a few short weeks!

the happiest birthday boy

Well....I feel like this post is a bit bittersweet. How in the world it could be time for Cameron's one year session just blows my mind. It seems like only yesterday that he was just a newborn, maybe 3 months....but a year?! It hardly seems possible. This was my first session of 2013, and what a way to start off the year. It felt so good to get outside and shoot. To be saying that in February seems a bit odd, but we had the most beautiful, sunny day to capture the birthday boy. Cameron has to be one of the happiest babies I have ever photographed. No matter how many smiles and laughs he gives, he always has more. There are very few images where he isn't as happy as he can be and I've just been smiling going through them all. It also makes it almost impossible to pick which ones to post! Although we focused primarily on Cameron, I loved the challenge of catching older brother Collin. He is quite the busy boy...no time to stop playing, 'not today!' Ashley and Russell, I can't thank you enough for entrusting me with the opportunity to capture your sweet boys over the years. It has truly been a joy and I hope you know how special of a place your family has in my heart!

Little Louden

Remember this sweet baby boy?? 4377

Well, sweet baby Louden has grown quite a bit since I last photographed him and he will be celebrating his first birthday next month. It's hard to believe that's even possible!  I met Nora, Matt, and little Louden one afternoon a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to start snapping away. Louden has the whitest hair, bluest eyes, and the best little personality. He was so curious, playful, silly, and serious at times which made for so many fun expressions!  I loved watching these parents with him and seeing all the sweet, little inside things they do to get him going. Nora and Matt....here's just a few before the holiday weekend and I can't wait for you to see them all.

lots of love

I always look forward to seeing the Taylor family and after having my daughter in July, I wasn't quite sure if I would make this session or not.  But after missing Cameron's 6 month milestone, there was no way I was going to miss his 9 month....and it just so happens to be one of my favorite ages to photograph!  Collin is getting ready to turn 3 and is definitely all boy.  He is constantly on the go and ready to play at any moment.  Cameron is the happiest little boy that just smiles the biggest smiles at the drop of a hat.  Seeing the two of them together was priceless.  Collin is at the age where when he gives hugs they sort of turn into love tackles, and Cameron didn't mind one bit.  It is so obvious how much he loves his big brother by the way he just looks at him.  There is also no doubt the love that these parents have for their boys.  They made noises, jumped up and down, acted silly, ran races, played peek-a-boo through the 'window', gave family hugs, and kisses.  Anything you can imagine to keep these boys happy and having fun, they did.  It was so sweet to see.  Russell and Ashley, I just love, love, love your images.  They are some of the most playful, love-filled family images ever!  I can't wait for you to see them all.

birthday boys!

I've been photographing the Pond family since 2010 when Daniel celebrated his first birthday.  Well, Daniel just turned four and is now a big brother to Nicholas who just turned one himself.  With both of these sweet boys having just celebrated a birthday, it was the perfect time to get together to capture some images.  The fall color was in full force and it was so beautiful outside.  I couldn't wait to get started.  Nicholas isn't quite walking yet, but he sure was on the move crawling.  He loved playing with the leaves and still has the cutest gummy grin.  When I first started taking Daniel's picture, he seemed a bit apprehensive.  He looked at me and said, 'You aren't really going to give us shots, are you?'  It was so, so funny!  Mom and Dad had obviously mentioned me getting some shots of them and it didn't quite translate.  I was so happy to relieve any worries he had and just try to have some fun instead.  Brooks and David, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your family's memories.  Enjoy your sneak peek!
