Ava

I've got such a treat for the blog today. This is Marinda, Grady, and their new little baby girl Ava. Marinda used to work with my husband and it had been years since I had seen her. I was so excited to hear that she was expecting a baby girl and that she thought of me for a newborn session. She knew that she wanted to utilize the outdoors as much as possible, so we decided to shoot the entire session outside! I have shot many newborn images outside, but I think this was the first time I attempted to shoot the entire session outdoors. Luckily, it was the perfect time of year so it was nice and toasty outside. We also had the perfect location, Marinda's parent's house, which was absolutely stunning. There were so many beautiful flowers and special little spots to shoot, and we ended things in a beautiful field as the sun was setting. I am so excited about the images we came away with. Marinda and Grady, congratulations on your new little girl. You all are such a sweet little family of three!

I have people ask me from time to time if I put the 'best' pictures on my blog for sneak peeks. Obviously, the 'best' images are all a matter of opinion anyways, but I usually love the ones I pick for different reasons. When I go to pick images to post, I'm usually picking from a pool of hundreds of images. I grab ones that stand out to me at that point in the process. But it's not really until I completely narrow down a collection that I even know 'my' favorites. This is the Walker family with their newest addition, Grant McKenly. With little Grant's newborn session, I honestly had the hardest time picking what to post. Newborn sessions are always so sweet anyways...who doesn't love a sweet little baby?! Add to that a sweet as can be baby boy with the most gorgeous head full of hair, beautiful parents who were as nice as they could be, an outdoor family portion on one of the prettiest evenings we've had in a long time, golden light, mix that all together, and its pretty hard! So, this is my attempt to pick a few images to share.

For those of you that keep up with my work, you know that the McGlone family is no stranger to my blog. I've watched their family grow from having one boy to three. Now the McGlones are expecting baby #4 in February and I can't wait! This session came on a day, for whatever reason, I was just feeling bummed and like I really needed to capture something fun. They couldn't have been the more perfect family to pull me out of my mood! Not only are Quinn, Brogan, and Declan some of the most handsome boys ever, but Annie and Kevin are never afraid to be silly and have a little fun with them. I saw some pretty serious dance moves, heard all about Quinn and Brogan's girlfriends, and even found out about a store with pinball machines! I'm not going to lie, it was a bit chaotic at times, but it was exactly what I needed and I love the images we came away with. Annie and Kevin, thanks for being awesome!

it's been awhile

It is always such a joy to photograph a family again after it's been awhile. The last time I took pictures for the Hatfields, little Madi was brand new. Lots has changed with this sweet family since then, and I was so happy to be able to catch up with everyone. I couldn't believe how grown up these kiddos were. Abe is 5 and getting ready to start kindergarten. Madi is 3 and obviously has changed so much since I saw her at her newborn session. Sweet Knox just celebrated his first birthday the day before our session, so it was the perfect time for some images. Jessica did an amazing job picking outfits for everyone and we had the most beautiful evening for our shoot. Jessica and Andy, I'm so happy that it worked out for us to get together for your shoot this time. Your family is absolutely gorgeous...enjoy!!

Amelia Kate

When Jessica contacted me and told me she was expecting and interested in having me photograph her newborn, I was beyond thrilled. I was even more excited when I found out a few weeks later it was going to be a baby girl! All newborns are sweet as can be, but it's always fun to break out some little girl props! Jessica used to be one of my son's teachers at John Adams ECLA, and I have always thought she was just wonderful and would make the best mom. Jessica and husband Steffen welcomed Griffin to their family in early 2012 and now little Miss Amelia Kate has arrived! To say that they have their hands full goes without saying, but these two parents seemed to be handling everything with ease and a sense of humor. Steffen and Griffin got to spend some time together while us girls sweated it out upstairs...literally! Amelia was just perfect and is such a little beauty already. We ended things off with a bit of family time outside and a bit of brother/sister love! Jessica and Steffen, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to document Miss Amelia's first few days and your family at such a special, special time.
