BIG NEWS!!!

so i want to start off by saying that the last several years of my life have been some of the best yet. i spent years in a profession that made me miserable, so when i walked away from it, i never looked back...not even once! when my son was born, little did i know that the rest of my life would start falling into place. with my son as my subject and a design/creative background in architecture to pull from, i picked up my camera and haven't put it down since. after tons of support from family and friends, i started my own photography business that has allowed me to do what makes me happy. and now i've come to the present moment, and my life is getting ready to take another turn. i couldn't be more excited!!!

so the BIG NEWS....i was offered and have accepted the associate photographer position at picsee studio in downtown kingsport!!!

when i heard they were hiring a photographer, it was a thought that i couldn't quite shake. i tried to take it one step at a time, thinking it through from every possible angle, convinced that what was meant to happen would happen. so when i heard from the girls that they chose me for the position, i was just so proud....and pretty freakin' excited!! these last few years have been such a journey for me both personally and professionally, and somehow everything has fallen into place. i can't wait to work with this amazing group of girls who share my same passion for photography, and i'm so, so excited about what the future has in store for us all!

for those of you that have 2011 sessions already scheduled with me, i will still be posting your sneak peeks, so no worries!! thank you to all my clients who have believed in me along the way and have really allowed this opportunity to be possible. in the meantime, check out picsee's blog and website, and give us a call!!

and....since no blog post seems complete without something to look at, here are a few spur of the moment images i took yesterday of my boys in our backyard enjoying the warm weather! they mean the absolute world to me and without the help, support, and faith of my husband, i would have never been able to follow my dreams.

brrrr!!

so i think this session wins the coldest session of the year award! luckily, this family was super laid back, and they just bundled up in lots of layers and braved the cold. these two kiddos were so cute in their warm jackets and hats and despite the cold, we got some sweet smiles....and some warm snuggles!

hello 2011...and a sneak peek to start it off right!

happy new year to everyone! i am so, so happy and excited to welcome the new year and even more excited to see what this year has in store. the new year has brought some changes to my business and i am beyond thrilled to get things going. there have been a few prices changes, but GOOD NEWS....all my print prices have remained the same!! the biggest change that will take place is that i will be now doing ordering sessions at my home. i have been slowly but surely working on my viewing/ordering room over that past year. for those who know me, i am a bit slow to decorate and find just the right finishing touches. the perfectionist in me holds things up sometimes! but i finally have things just the way that i want them and i'm ready to officially start having ordering sessions here. for those of you who were willing, i did some 'practice runs' last year and i've had an overwhelming response to them. my ordering software allows me to actually load a picture of a wall in your house and help you pick the perfect image or group of images and see exactly how things will look and how particular sizes will fit your space. it is such a great visual tool and i can't wait to start helping you pick the perfect design for your walls!

here are a few examples of wall designs i put together for some clients:

even without a wall image, we can create some beautiful collages.

i even use it for myself. i knew i wanted to get a canvas of my son and i wanted it to fill the space on my wall. i had no idea what size, and using my software, i was able to see what sizes would look like. i never would have guessed a 20x30, but that's what i got, and i LOVE it!!

please excuse my toilet paper roll!!

so here's to the new year. my schedule for 2011 is officially open and many thanks to all of you who have been waiting patiently.

and now for a little sneak peek!!

naturals

i feel like it's been so long since i have posted! the craziness of the season has calmed down, and now i can get back to some sneak peeks!

the sunshine in these pictures makes me feel warm on such a cold winter day, but looks can be deceiving because it was actually quite chilly out. luckily this family was up hanging out in the cold for a bit, and i'm so glad they were. this mama had told me early on that they had never really had 'these kind' of family pictures made before. i would have never guessed that because there were pure naturals in front of the camera...seeming so at ease just being together. they were full of laughs and just really good at being a family. here's just a few!

one year already

so this post is a bit emotional for me. i've been taking this little man's photos ever since he was a newborn, and this is his one year session. one year already, i can't believe it!! time has flown by so quickly and i truly feel lucky that i have gotten to see this sweet boy over his first year of life. now he's walking, starting to say some words, and just cute as ever. i've also loved seeing the way his parents love him...really, really sweet!
