family fun!

this is a family i have known for years. i grew up going to school with one of these daughters and continued on to architecture school with her as well. now a mommy to a daughter of her own, she asked me to take some pictures for her when they were in town. once her sisters heard, it turned into an entire family affair! they came armed and ready with coolers and drinks, ready for a good time. i loved watching them have some good family fun!

so much to celebrate!

this session was extra special to me. this is another friend that i went to architecture school with, and when she asked me to take pictures of her family when their baby boy arrived, i was so, so excited. i've said this before, but having friends of mine that i went to school with ask me to take pictures for them means so much to me because they are all such creative people in their own right. this couple's house is a photographer's dream with cute little areas everywhere you look and i had so much fun scoping out shots. with this sweet little baby boy only 9 days new and his super cute big sister who just turned 3, this family has quite a lot to celebrate. so happy for you all!!

my little buddy

i've been looking forward to blogging about this session since the night i took these. as soon as i got out of my car and saw this little guy, he was all smiles. i knew we were going to have some fun. we spent the session exploring, running, jumping, and just playing. i had so much fun with him and by the end, he grabbed my hand and wanted to walk with me...my new little buddy. those kind of moments just melt my heart. here's just a few of his sweetness and complete cuteness!!

'the list'

this session has been on my schedule since very early in the year. grandparents live here, daughters plan a visit....perfect time for a photo session!

i always try to take pictures with lots of different family combinations. most are pretty straight forward, but when i asked for any suggestions of combinations they might have in mind....i got 'the list'. any grouping you can think of...it was on it. i printed it out, had it with me, and it did turn into a bit of a joke. but joking aside, i was happy to capture everything you had in mind to remember your family weekend together! here's just a few.

for me, newborn sessions are so unpredictable. i can try to plan it as much as possible from the time of day based on the light in a client's house to making sure the baby has a full belly, but each little one is different and each newborn session takes on a life of its own. this sweet baby girl was just over a week old and after a bit of sleepy time when we started out, she was determined to stay awake. she was honestly so content just looking around taking in everything around her. so we just went with it, and i love the feeling of these pictures.
