sweet baby anna!

I had planned on taking the rest of the year off, but I just couldn't fight the urge to shoot, even if it was just a few sessions. I'm so excited to start posting some new sneak peeks, and what better way to start it off than with a sweet newborn. After having a new baby girl of my own just 3 months ago, it was so fun to capture another new baby girl for the Preston family. Proud parents Richard and Holly along with big brother John welcomed sweet baby Anna Lyle to their family a few weeks ago, and I couldn't wait to see her. I went to architecture school with Richard (or John as I know him!) and he designed and built their beautiful new home. It was amazing and the perfect backdrop for an in-home newborn session. Anna was simply adorable and I couldn't believe how much her big brother John had grown since I had last seen him. Richard and Holly, I am so happy to have been able to take these images for you. I absolutely love your images and I can't wait for you to see the rest. I had a hard time choosing what to post!!

playing catch-up!

After flying under the radar for quite some time, I feel like it's time to make an official post.  My hope is to fill everyone in on all the changes around here, clear up any questions you may have about scheduling, and just to share some exciting news with all of you!  It's been quite a ride, but I know in my heart I am right where I'm supposed to be...and I couldn't be happier!

I guess that I should start by saying that I am in business as Beth Corpstein Photography again! I feel a bit silly saying that because it's been about a year, but it still comes up in conversation from time to time. I have been surprised by how many people still have no idea. I never made an official announcement to put the word out, but I guess it's better late than never! I worked with the wonderful girls at Picsee Studio until September of 2011. It was a really hard decision for me to leave. It was definitely one that was made with many tears, but ultimately in the end, it was the best decision for me. We still keep in touch and when it's time for me to step in front of the camera for my family's pictures, there is no one else I would choose! They are amazing at what they do, and I was lucky to have had the opportunity and experience to be a part of their team.

I saw this quote the other day. 'October is to photographers what April is to accountants'. This couldn't be more true and after leaving Picsee in September, I wasn't ready for the busy season mentally. I just needed a bit of time to gather my thoughts and figure out a few things. Although I continued to shoot, I wasn't ready to spread the news that I was back on my own. My plan was to regroup and start fresh in 2012. Then in December of 2011, we found out some pretty amazing news....I was pregnant!! After suffering a devastating miscarriage and 2 1/2 years of not getting pregnant, we were beginning to deal with the idea that we may be meant to be a family of three. When we found out the news, I was so excited but also cautiously optimistic. I didn't want to make any announcement until I felt pretty confident that everything would be ok. I continued to book sessions for those of you that had heard that I was shooting again on my own. I shot until June of this year and then physically just couldn't take any more sessions with my growing belly!! It turns out that I never quite felt confident everything was going to be ok until I held my sweet baby girl in my arms. Blythe Beatrice Corpstein was born on July 23rd and we finally became the 'Corpstein Four'!

Since Blythe's birth, I have had so many people ask when I'm going to start shooting again. I haven't really been able to give a clear answer, and I apologize for that. I wanted to wait until I got 'the itch' to do some work and then start back slowly. So many of you have been completely amazing and have wanted to be put on my 'waiting list' for when I do start shooting again. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that some of you are willing to wait for me! I unfortunately have also had to turn many of you away because there are some sessions that you simply can't put on hold, and I completely understand that. This is what I do know. I'm definitely not ready to take on a full schedule. I did decide to shoot some sessions before the end of the year. These spots have already been booked and I will not be booking anything else in 2012.  I will be shooting in 2013, but it will still be a more limited schedule than in the past. If you want to book a session, let me know because it will be first come first serve.

I also want to give a huge thank you to all of you out there that support me and my passion. I feel truly blessed to be able to do what I do, and that wouldn't be possible without your support. Lastly, I will leave you with a couple images. What's a blog post without something to see??!! Be on the lookout for some sneak peeks really soon...starting tomorrow with a sweet newborn!!
